Sonia Velarsan, MSc, is a certified Registered Dietitian (RD) and Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE), specializing in oncology nutrition and integrative dietetics, working at TDU. She has experience in cancer dietetics research focusing on the impact of dietary antioxidants on chemotherapy-induced cytotoxicity and at St. John’s Research Institute, measuring body composition, energy balance, and nutritional status of Indian children with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) during cancer treatment. At TDU, her role includes teaching and research. She is a course instructor and Program assistant for the Ayurveda Dietetics Program as well as a Research Fellow working on a RIST project on personalized cancer diets by integrating Ayurvedic and modern nutritional principles. She also manages various clinical cases related to metabolic disorders, applying a holistic, evidence-based dietary approach.
